MBH Bank Nyrt. is further increasing its stake in Fundamenta-Lakáskassza Zrt. It has signed a purchase agreement with Generali Biztosító Zrt. to acquire a 14.88% stake in the building society. Once the necessary official approvals have been granted, the bank will hold a total of 91.23% of Fundamenta Zrt.
In March 2024, MBH acquired 76.35% of Fundamenta-Lakáskassza with the aim of becoming the leading player in the domestic savings and housing loan market through the synergies between the two companies.
In recent months, the cooperation between MBH Bank and Fundamenta has been extremely successful. The bank’s customer base grew by around 480,000 customers, HUF 530 billion (EUR 1.2 billion) in loans and HUF 570 billion (EUR 1.3 billion) in deposits.
Fundamenta will continue to operate as a consolidated subsidiary of MBH Bank, but as an independent company. The transaction is expected to be completed in January 2025.
