E.ON Hungária – Automatic substation in Kisbér

The E.ON Hungária Group has inaugurated an automatic, remote-controlled new substation in Kisbér with an investment of HUF 1.5 billion (EUR 3.9 million). The substation is part of the Danube InGrid power grid development project.

After the handover of the investment in Kisbér, the development of the North Transdanubian electricity grid will continue with the construction of a new high-voltage line through the Bakony Mountains (63 km) and on the Csorna-Répcelak-Csepreg route (49 km). Subsequently, further greenfield substations will be built and expanded in Répcelak, Szombathely, Veszprémvarsány, Várpalota, Zirc and Lepsény, with handover scheduled for 2024 and 2025 respectively.

E.ON Hungária is investing HUF 60 billion (EUR 156.2 million) in North Transdanubia to create a modern and efficient grid that uses renewable energy sources to meet the energy needs of its customers. The Group is also investing HUF 74 billion (EUR 192.7 million) in the Transdanubian region and Pest County until 2026. Half of the investment cost will be come from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) funding, which the government is pre-financing. The investments will create 726 megawatts of additional capacity, allowing new solar plants to be connected to the grid with improved security of supply.

The cross-border Slovak-Hungarian smart grid project Danube InGrid, supported by the European Grid Finance Instrument, will carry out developments worth HUF 116 billion (EUR 302 million).
