Continental Dohányipari Zrt. – a company of the Continental Tobacco Group – is investing HUF 16.5 billion (approx. EUR 42.7 million) in real estate development in Sátoraljaújhely (Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County).
The development includes the purchase of machinery, energy modernization and the construction of three new halls with a total area of almost 12,000 square meters. Work has already begun on the construction of a new 1,200 square meters hall, which is scheduled for completion in November this year. The warehouse is the company’s first owner-occupied real estate project that is not being built on the Group’s 133-year-old production site.
A 7,200 square meters, partly two-storey production hall will soon be built on the site next to the warehouse, while a 3,500 square meters state-of-the-art finished goods warehouse is currently being planned on the industrial site next to the current factory. The target completion date for the investment package is mid-2026.
The Continental Tobacco Group is an independent, family-owned private company that unites several tobacco companies operating in Europe. It was founded 27 years ago in Hódmezővásárhely and currently employs around 700 people.
