The Bosch Group is further expanding its research and development activities in Hungary. The company is building a development and testing complex in the immediate vicinity of the ZalaZone test track in Zalaegerszeg. The complex in Zalaegerszeg will contribute to the development of strategically important areas such as electric mobility, self-driving cars and AI-based technologies.
The investment of around EUR 10 million is scheduled to be handed over at the end of 2023 and to be fully completed by the end of 2025. The new Bosch complex will be located on a 10,000 m2 plot next to the ZalaZone, where a 2,000 m2 office building and a 1,500 m2 workshop will be built. The latter will be equipped with eight test car assembly stations and diagnostic instruments, among other things, and will be able to test both combustion and electric cars.
In addition to creating new jobs, the company also aims to cooperate with the university ecosystem emerging in the ZalaZone region. Bosch would like to involve as many students as possible in the work at the new location.
Almost 4,000 Bosch associates work in R&D in Hungary alone. In recent years, the company’s Budapest development center has advanced to become one of Bosch’s flagships and today it is hard to imagine the international automotive industry without it. In addition to the capital, Bosch has also established research and development at the Miskolc and Maklar sites.
