A new tomato processing plant is being built in Mezőberény (Békés County). Aranyfácán Product Kft. is constructing the new facility with an investment of HUF 10 billion (EUR 25.7 million). The Hungarian government will support the project with a subsidy covering 50% of the investment.
The first Aranyfácán canning factory was established in Hatvan in 1934 to process tomatoes grown on nearby farms. Today, the company’s products are sold across large parts of Europe as well as in Arab countries. About half of its revenue (in 2024 it amounted to nearly HUF 3.5 billion (EUR 9 million)) comes from export activities.
