With an investment of around HUF 2.2 billion (approximately EUR 5.5 million), E.ON Édász Zrt. is building a new substation in Zalaszentgrót. The project is being implemented as part of the Slovak-Hungarian Danube InGrid Program. About two-thirds of the investment cost is covered by E.ON itself, while one-third is financed through EU funds. This substation will enable new solar plants to connect to the power grid and increase the security of electricity supply in the Zalaszentgrót region.
E.ON plans to continue expanding Hungary’s power grid. New high-voltage transmission lines are planned through the Bakony Mountains and along the Csorna-Répcelak-Csepreg route, extending over 100 km. In addition, further substations will be constructed or expanded in Répcelak, Szombathely, Veszprémvarsány, Várpalota, Zirc, and Lepsény.
The Danube InGrid project, scheduled for completion by 2025, involves a total investment of HUF 116 billion (EUR 290 million), of which HUF 60 billion (EUR 150 million) will be invested in Northern Transdanubia alone.
The MVM Group, in turn, is modernizing the power grid in Soltvadkert. MVM Démász has built a modern 132/22 kV substation in the southeastern area of Soltvadkert. This new facility will not only meet the rising energy demand but will also enhance the grid’s ability to support private and commercial solar panel installations.
The MVM Group’s grid companies are working on modernizing and expanding the existing 132 substations and building new ones. Between 2023 and 2026, MVM Démász and MVM Émász will build new substations and upgrade existing ones in Soltvadkert, Jászfényszaru, Jászberény, Gyöngyöshalász, Hatvan, Maklár, Miskolc, Mezőkövesd, Szeged, and Szentes.
