Alstom – Mátranovák to become a global center

The Mátranovák site could provide a third of Alstom’s global production capacity for bogies in a few years’ time.

The HUF 6 billion (approx. EUR 15 million) development program, which is nearly completed, will increase the plant’s capacity by a further 40%. The number of employees increased by 165 to 720.

The Mátranovák plant began almost 40 years ago with the production of bogies for subway trains and railroad carriages. Today, the products can be found in conventional trains, high-speed trains, suburban trains, locomotives and double-decker coaches throughout Europe.

Alstom operates in 64 countries worldwide and has been present in Hungary for more than 20 years. The company has built half of the metro trains in Budapest and was also involved in the modernization of the MÁV-Start train fleet.
