After more than a year of intensive negotiations, the purchase agreement for Budapest Airport Zrt. has been signed. This brings the international airport “Ferenc Liszt” back into national ownership after almost 20 years.
In addition to the purchase price of EUR 3.1 billion, the Hungarian state and its junior partner are also assuming loans of EUR 1.44 billion.
State-owned Corvinus Investment Zrt. is acquiring BA Zrt. together with the French Vinci Airports from the investor consortium of AviAlliance, GIC and CDPQ. The complexity of the transaction underlines the need to reach an agreement with the international creditors who have been and continue to finance the airport operations. The state acquires 80% of BA Zrt. and the Vinci Group, operator of more than 70 airports worldwide, acquires 20%.
