SCHOTT Hungary Kft. increases capacities

The pharmaceutical packaging manufacturer SCHOTT Hungary Kft. inaugurated a new production hall in Lukácsháza (Vas County). The HUF 28 billion (EUR 70 million) development has expanded the plant and created 120 new jobs. The government subsidized the investment with approximately HUF 3.3 billion (EUR 8.25 million).

With the new development, SCHOTT Hungary has expanded its capacity to manufacture high-quality products such as sterile, prefillable glass syringes. Previously, these products were only manufactured by SCHOTT Pharma in Switzerland. The new plant in Lukácsháza is now the company’s second production center.

SCHOTT Hungary started 30 years ago in Lukácsháza with 39 employees, and the workforce has since grown to 700. Since then, the plant there has continuously expanded and quadrupled its operating area from 6,500 to 26,000 square meters.

SCHOTT Hungary generated net sales of HUF 32.8 billion (EUR 82 million) in the fiscal year to September 2023, compared to 30.8 billion in the previous year. Profit after tax halved from HUF 4.5 billion (EUR 11.25 million) to HUF 2.4 billion (EUR 6 million). 97% of production is exported.
