The representatives of employers (AFÉOSZ-COOP, MGYOSZ and VOSZ) and employees (Democratic Confederation of Free Trade Unions) have signed an agreement to increase the minimum wage. This means that from 1 December 2023 the minimum wage will increase by 15% to HUF 266,800 (EUR 702) gross per month, while the guaranteed minimum wage for skilled workers will increase by 10% to HUF 326,000 (EUR 858) gross. This means that full-time workers will earn at least HUF 177,400 net and skilled workers HUF 216,800 (EUR 570).
Hungarian Trade Union Confederation (MASZSZ) did not sign the agreement. During the negotiations, MÁSZSZ had repeatedly stressed that the minimum wage for skilled workers should also be raised by 15%, as 10% was too little in this environment of high inflation. Currently, around 225,000 workers in Germany receive the minimum wage, but 750,000 receive the guaranteed minimum wage for skilled workers.
