Continental is expanding its research and development activities with an investment of almost HUF 19 billion (EUR 7.2 million). The automotive group plans to create 280 new jobs by the end of 2024.
Since 2010, Continental has already made 13 major investments in the country with a total value of around HUF 100 billion (EUR 10,3 million). Of these investments, the one just announced is perhaps the one with the greatest intellectual added value, as 280 engineers will be employed in three major projects. The government is providing subsidies almost HUF 4 billion (EUR 258,3 million) for these projects, based on individual government decisions.
The Continental Autonomous Mobility Hungary team, which develops automated driving systems, is committed to applying new technologies that are key to competitiveness in the field of autonomous mobility. One of the company’s key strategic partners is the Pannon University of Veszprém, which provides the knowledge base on which Continental can build its R&D.
Hungary is a key location for the company. Following the opening of the AI Development Center in 2018, Continental established a new Application Development Center in Budapest in 2022. In the same year, the company expanded its software development activities to Szeged and Debrecen.
