Opus Titász Zrt. has inaugurated a 132/22 kilovolt substation in Macs on the western outskirts of Debrecen.
The substation, which was jointly financed by Opus Titász Zrt. and the City of Debrecen with an investment of almost HUF 5 billion (EUR 13 million), will supply electricity to the companies located in the north-western industrial area of Debrecen, including the BMW plant.
The modernisation of the power grid is justified not only by the growing demand from households and industry, but also by the rapid growth of renewable energy production. The government is providing HUF 160 billion (EUR 416.6 million) in support of capacity expansion and security of supply investments by transmission system operators and distributors across the country.
