Gyermelyi Zrt. – the country’s largest pasta producer – has invested HUF 6.5 billion (EUR 17 million) in a wheat mill. The company received HUF 1.7 billion (EUR 4.4 million) grants for the project under the framework of a scheme designed to support capital expenditures at big companies.
The new mill, located directly on the premises of Gyermelyi Zrt. has a daily capacity of 300 tons of wheat. The total capacity of the company’s three mills reaches 800 tons per day. In addition to the company’s own needs, domestic partners and foreign customers can also be served. By the summer, at a cost of HUF 3 billion (EUR 7.8 million), the grain storage capacity will be expanded to 40,000 tons.
Gyermelyi Zrt. cooperates with 250 farmers who grow grain on 8,200 hectares. The pasta producer provides the seeds. Also part of the company are egg farms: with an output of 140 million eggs a year, Gyermelyi is also the market leader here. Up to 700,000 eggs are needed daily for the pasta.
