Vodafone Magyarország – Takeover closed

Vodafone Magyarország will change hands in January. The deal is described as the largest corporate acquisition in Hungary since the reunification. The purchase agreement was signed on January 8, 2023.

IT company 4iG Nyrt. jointly with the state acquires the business of the second largest telecommunications company in Hungary, valued at HUF 660 billion (EUR 1.65 billion) – approximately 7 times the EBITDA achieved in the last closed financial year.

Vodafone Europe BV sells 100% of the shares in Vodafone Magyarország Zrt. to a consortium of Antenna Hungária Zrt., a subsidiary of 4iG Nyrt and Corvinus Zrt., a state investment company. 4iG will indirectly hold 51% of the Hungarian Vodafone company via Antenna Hungária Zrt. holding, and the state will hold 49% of the shares.

The state had approved a loan of HUF 170 billion (EUR 425 million) from MFB (Hungarian Development Bank) for Antenna Hungária Zrt.
