Labor market – More and more workers from third countries

The government is systematically relaxing the conditions for workers from third countries outside the EU. The latest provisions focus on the Paks 2 nuclear power plant project, as well as facilitations for workers from Ukraine and Serbia.

Employment rate amounts to almost 75% and unemployment rate has fallen to a record low. For this reason, the government expanded the number of countries from which workers are welcome from 9 to 15 at the end of July. In addition to the Balkans, domestic temporary work agencies have recently been promoting work in Hungary in South America (Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela), in Belarus and Russia and in Central Asia (Georgia and Kyrgyzstan). Guest workers from Mongolia and Vietnam, from the Philippines, from Indonesia and from Kazakhstan have proven their worth for a long time. From Ukraine alone, at least 60,000 people are said to have found a job in Hungary.

Experts estimate the number of vacancies in Germany that cannot be filled by local workers at around 100,000.
