With an investment of HUF 400 billion (around EUR 1 billion), Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft. is expanding the Kecskemét plant. New production lines for electric cars are being built here.
Series production of models for the new MMA platform (Mercedes Modular Architecture) will start in 2024, while series production of a pure electric model for the MB.EA platform (Mercedes-Benz Electric Architecture) will start in 2025. In addition, new capacities are being created. This will involve the new assembly line and body production line which will be operated exclusively with green electricity. The energy-intensive surface treatment and painting process will completely rely on renewable energy sources.
In addition to a significant development of the infrastructure, new jobs will also be created. The state is supporting the large-scale project with HUF 14 billion (EUR 35 million). There will be financial support for a special training program that Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kft. will set up in Kecskemét.
