From February, private households will be able to apply for subsidies for energy storage systems with a capacity of up to 10 kW. The grant per household is expected to amount to HUF 2.5 million (approx. EUR 6,500), corresponding to a subsidy intensity of around 80%. Eligible applicants are residential property owners who have already installed photovoltaic systems.
Currently, more than 320,000 residential buildings are equipped with their own PV systems. The new call for applications, with a total budget of HUF 100 billion (EUR 259.7 million), will enable the installation of 40,000 energy storage units. These systems are intended to shift surplus solar energy generated during the day to the late afternoon and evening hours.
In parallel, a separate support program for companies in the competitive and energy sectors is already underway, with a total budget of HUF 230 billion (EUR 597.4 million), aimed at promoting the wider deployment of energy storage solutions.
