BorsodChem – Supplier for LFP batteries

Chemical company BorsodChem, a member of the Chinese Wanhua Group, is building an LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) cathode raw material production plant at its headquarters in Kazincbarcika. Trial operations could begin at the end of 2026.

BorsodChem aims to bring cutting-edge technologies to Europe in order to position itself as a supplier for LFP batteries. The company estimates the planned production capacity at the site at 30,000 tonnes per year. The new facility will create over 50 jobs.

Next-generation LFP technology is currently applied exclusively in Germany within Europe. It is used in energy storage systems, household electronics, and electric vehicles.
