The new Mercedes plant in Kecskemét will begin series production in early 2026, doubling the company’s production capacity in Hungary. The plant is set to produce 400,000 vehicles annually, announced Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó.
Around 15 years ago, Mercedes-Benz decided to establish a factory in Hungary. With the construction of a new plant in Kecskemét, the country is witnessing a development on a similar scale once again. The German automaker will relocate the production of two model series based on its new platform to Hungary, positioning Kecskemét as a key hub in Mercedes’ electromobility strategy.
The launch of series production in the new Mercedes factory will enable Hungary to manufacture one million cars per year. This achievement will place the country among the elite club of the global automotive industry. Negotiations are already underway regarding further large-scale developments of an entirely new dimension.
