The mechanical engineering company Körber Hungária invested more than HUF 3.6 billion (approx. EUR 9 million) in improvements at its site in Pécs in 2024.
The company, which once mainly manufactured parts for tobacco machines and now primarily supplies the pharmaceutical industry, has made significant technological and infrastructural developments this year. A PV system was installed on more than 11,000 square meters of space on the roof of the factory building and high-tech metalworking machines were purchased. The powder coating technology was also converted to a more efficient and environmentally friendly solution.
As one of the largest industrial companies in Pécs and Baranya County, Körber Hungária currently employs more than 1,000 people. The parent company, Körber AG, based in Hamburg, operates internationally with 12,000 employees in more than 20 countries. The Hungarian subsidiary started in 1994 with 210 employees after taking over the halls and machines of the former Sopianae machine factory.
